oh mabel : a giveaway

Shortly before we moved into our new house I received a beautiful package from Sarah at Oh Mabel; lemon and grey Annie's Fields floral sheets made from the softest 100% GOTS certified organic cotton sateen. Indeed, they're the right amount of delicate pretty for my summer bedroom and they have inspired many comfortable afternoon naps (with many more to come).

Linen is my downfall and I find it strangely satisfying to wash the sheets, dry them on the line and then make the bed in preparation for an extra sound night's sleep. It's a ritual worth savouring, don't you think? And it's made all the more enjoyable by soft sheets that get better with wear.

........................................................................................

See that spritely set of sunshine yellow pinwheel pillowcases up there? I'd love to place them in someone's Christmas stocking, if you'll let me. Valued at $78, they will add a touch of happy to your bedroom this summer. To enter, simple leave a comment telling me why you need some new pillowcases in your life. Comments close 12midday Monday December 8th and the winner will be announced shortly after.

If giveaways aren't your thing, Oh Mabel is offering you a 15% discount storewide with the code: practisingsimplicity - valid from now until Monday midnight.

Comments closed. The winner is pipiphooray. Congratulations! Email your address to: jodiclairewilson @ yahoo.com.au and I'll get them in the post tomorrow x

  4. Always need fresh new pillowcases, however these would be particularly wonderful for my daughter ... Mabel! She's about to get her own - 'can paint the walls, do what she likes bedroom' - for the first time in years. I know Mabel would adore them.

  7. Hi! Over Christmas my husbands entire family will be camped on our lounge room floor in our little Hobart house (that has only one bathroom - eek!) my bed will be my sanctuary away from the madness and some new pillowcases would probably make my entire Christmas!!

  8. Oh they're so pretty! My darling little 3month old son is very much of the spitty up milk variety so not only would they bring a little sunshine to a very grey damp winter but they also might help the perpetual shortage of pillowcases after tiny Pip possets over my shoulder again!

  9. Our tiny dark loft bedroom needs some tlc and I am in need some inspiration. I think these lovely pillowcases would do the trick, those and your decluttering tips as this is one room that ends up as the sorting room with our bed in.

  10. That's a delightful looking room! I'm extremely envious of that frangipani tree outside. They don't grow well here in Melbourne :)

    Happy Holidays!

  12. Hi Jodi. Your bedroom looks most tranquil! I'm not entering the giveaway, but wanted to let you know, my finger has been hovering over that add to cart button for months on the pinwheel sheet set, and thanks to your discount code, I've just bought myself a Christmas present ;-) I also get almost absurd satisfaction from fresh sheet day, and with two young boys, most nights are still disturbed by one or the other, so I feel I at least deserve tHe best bed linen!

  13. I need (ok, want!) them so I can soak up as much sweet sleep as possible before bub #2 arrives in March.

  15. I would really love these but I actually need them. We only have one set of sheets at the moment for our new king bed and these would make a lovely addition. Sleep is super precious to me. Having 4 kids in 5 years ever second of sleep I get is so desperately needed.

  20. I'd like to send them to a young girl called Julia who is about to undergo a gruelling and painful treatment for lyme disease in Germany. She is only 15, and will be separated from her family. I do not know this girl personally, but spoke with her father, as I recently underwent the same treatment. It is really rough - and I cannot help but think these pillow cases might be something nice for her, something pretty to look at when her exhausted, bruised body is carried to bed after a day of treatments.

  21. Is that the view from your new bedroom window Jodi??? It's soooooo dreamy!
We are in desperate need of pillow cases because a certain little someone (Miss Harriet) is a projectile reflux and we go through so much bedding! And doesn't need a little ray of sunshine in their life.... Xxxx

  26. I adore new linen but have been holding back for the last few years as our family has grown...and with it the endless washing of dribble and spit-up stained everything! Given my baby girl's handmade cot blanket is brightly coloured, matching pillowcases on mama's bed would complete our bedroom :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi Jodi, I couldn't resist leaving a comment. What a beautiful giveaway! I absolutely adore the Oh Mabel range! Why I need them?! I need a touch of pretty. With a family, life seems to lean predominantly towards the practical, sensible and cost effective. Every now and then I yearn for the opposite.

  28. What a beautiful way to drift off to sleep - I would love these pillowcases for a blissful night's sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Those would go beautifully with my new quilt. My kitty is always waking above our heads I get to his food bowl, and our pillowcases are hopelessly snagged because of it. I think a print is he answer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Most of my pillowcases are so old! We were poor when we got married, so I just got whatever ones I could find. :) I could REALLY use these!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. We are loving yellow in our bedroom this summer and this pinwheel print is just adorable! I would love to add these pillowcases to my Christmas gifting pile to spread some cheer to someone special in my life.

    ReplyDelete
  32. These are gorgeous and whilst these pretty pillowcases definitely fall into the mama wish list category, the whole family would get to appreciate their gorgeousness given that our bed seems to be the family meeting place nowadays. I'm certain that these particular pillowcases would contain magic sleepy dust which would make every night of broken sleep (getting up to a three year old and five month old) feel like a rock solid nine hours.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I would love some new pillowcases as I'm about to enter my 4th week of solo parenting and need some prettiness to destress me after the witching hour!

  34. The pillowcase remind me of hanging sheets out at my Grandmothers farm. I loved pinning the clean wash on the line and watching the sun shine through the sheets. The smell of fresh linens off the clothesline is a memory of my childhood. Pinwheels and sheets are summer memories, I would love to win the pillowcases! Thank you for the giveaway. I love your photos and your blog, they make a happy place in my day.

  35. While I know there are plenty of more deserving recipients of those delightful sunny sheets I just love them and of course would look after them like my own children ;) We're currently hosting overseas guests and have only two sets of sheets between us and we happily gave up our bed to the guests to sleep on a mattress on the floor, only to find our wedding sheet set (that has lasted us 5 years now!!!) has finally ripped :( woe is me. Love your work Jodi - give these delicious sheets to someone especially deserving xx

  37. After vacating my bedroom to family and camping out on the loungeroom sofa for nine whole weeks in the months September to December, I would sure love to bed myself in this yellow linen loveliness when I return to my own bed again in early January.

  38. This is delightful, thank you for chance to win. I'm in dire need of new pillowcases and yellow is my favourite colour!

  41. Oh, we are in desperate need of some new linen! This would be the perfect start to a new collection!

    ReplyDelete
  42. What lovely pillowcases! We have been in renovation mode for the better part of a year now which has meant most of our everything has been packed away and stored in tubs too far under the house to access easily. This renovation has been heavily delayed too, which means I've been washing the same one set of sheets for our bed for months and I'd love to finally add a bit of colour back to our bed by way of these delightful pillowcases!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't really need new pillowcases (physically) but I'd really like them (emotionally). They would make such a wonderful bright addition. Sometimes you just need to surround yourself with niceness...

    ReplyDelete
  44. My husband and I will finally be moving into our own place in a few weeks and this would be lovely to place on our first bed we get to buy :) they look so cheerful and comfy.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Those are adorable. We're a mismatch bed kind of family, so one would end up on my husband and I's bed and the other on our toddler's. Our bed is always full of color and florals and basically anything I think goes together in my odd taste. I've always want dot give organic a try though. I'm usually starting with thrift store sheets, so most of mine are worn well beyond what is probably acceptable for a good house wife. New linens tend to be at the bottom of the need list for us, but they are so badly needed and would freshen up our home. Thanks for the giveaway! I love the companies you're always introducing me to.

  46. what no haiku this time?

    breathing floral fields,
    mountain range of memories,

yah, sorry couldn't resist... p.s. mabel is a very cute name...

  47. Oh yes please! I'm resisting putting our 5 month old into his big brother's bedroom - the sleepy snuggles are just too good! But when I do finally get my room back to myself, these gorgeous, feminine sheets would be just beautiful to stamp some personality onto this bedroom x

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hello Jodi, we are in the beginning of a recostruction over here and the first on the list is a bedroom. Those cute yellow patters would brighen our grey dark winter mornings over here in Slovakia. And be the perfect add on to our new white/grey/wooden bedroom I am dreaming about... Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family!

  49. The symbolic meaning of a pinwheel is to "turn one's luck around" What a positive thought to rest your head on :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Such delightful pillow cases would create a splendid backdrop for the precious moments spent recounting the days happenings, laughing and marvelling at the ways of little ones and swapping tales of our trek through parenting that my husband and I share before resting our weary heads for the night. 51. Divine! I don't really have a good reason other than I am just so in LOVE! Please send some lovely linen my way! It would make my year xx

  52. My love & I are getting married this Christmas, so a set of beautiful pillowcases for our new adventure together would be such a treat.

  53. I love yellow + grey and my home is all white with little touches of these two colours :) So, I would be very happy to have also linens to make me feel really homy :)

  54. My home is quite bright all over but my room is white and yellow, so the pillowcases would be perfect!

  55. My pillowcases are bland and old. Definitely need some new ones neyabenz(at)gmail(dot)com

  56. One of my weaknesses is linen also, there is nothing better than a freshly made bed! I would love these pillowcases not for myself, but for my granddaughter. These cases remind me of her - bright and sunny and cheerful.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This looks LOVELY. So beautiful. And I'm using a terribly old pillowcase at the moment :/ -- I mean as in I bought it in 2002 and it has PowerPuff Girls on it. Yes, I'm 32 years old.

  58. I have had a crush on Oh Mabel for a while now and I need some pretty in my life. I have 3 boys and my husband, bought sheets & pillowcases last time. They're a very unexciting drab shade of beige. I'm done with beige. I need sweetness to rest my head on every night.

  59. You always find the nicest linen Jodi! I've recently found myself in Dunedin, New Zealand where summer seems to be non-existent. Being from Fiji and having lived in Canberra (where although cold,we got a summer) I've had to devise ways to bring summer into our Dunedin home. I think these Oh Mabel pillowcases would be another wonderful way to inject summer into our lives x

  60. We were gifted navy bed linen when we were married, 10 years ago! In the last two months both the Navy pillow cases have torn and been tossed out, the sheet set is still going strong. I'd love the Oh Mabel pillow cases. They would look very happy and at home on our navy sheets....and our white set too!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh, yes please! I have just begun my linen love story....spritely yellow would compliment my white linen doona cover adoringly so.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Because I've used a few too many of ours as 'no rinse sprouting bags' over the years! And none we have or have ever had for that matter are as pretty as those - that's for sure. Ours are all plain and boring. These would hopefully help to herald Summer down here. It's 10ºC today can you believe it!!!!! We're considering lighting the fire! Come on Summer!!!!! There really is nothing like climbing into a bed with fresh linen, I agree. I'd indulge in fresh linen on the bed every day if I had the washing and re-making of the bed time! :) A bed with fresh linen - always guarantees the snuggliest night sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I love those pinwheels. I could use some cheery new bedding!

    ReplyDelete
  64. My nine-month-old baby wakes up before the sun rises, pats my face with her warm hands, coos her dove-like morning noises, then rolls over and giggles when she sees my partner. She is so different with her two parents. One of us make a french press of coffee and carries it back upstairs to bed. We prop ourselves up on pillows and sip our coffees as the baby explores every corner of our lofted bedroom/nursery.

These pillowcases seem to be made to last for generations. Were they ours, they'd hold the story of these sweet and slow early mornings, the nights we spend cuddled together in bed, and all that is to come.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wow those sheets are swoon worthy indeed. Your new room looks like a peaceful sanctuary. And such happy little pinwheels dancing along. It's a been a long time since I invested in new bed linen and whilst I agree in ' investing' in quality there never seems to be that extra portion for such luxuries these days. I too am preparing the nest for my second and know these would be a beautiful and uplifting sight in what will be my main abode in the near future.

  66. Recently we lost most of our belongings due to mains pressure water filling our little family apartment from a burst water heater. This included our little baby boy's first and only cot, some of his tiny clothing from when he was very new (now only have memories and photographs of these now) and our own clothing, bedding, lounge, most of our furniture and all of our flooring. We lived on wet, cold, dusty concrete for a long time with a little boy who was desperate to learn to walk, it was tough! We're only now pulling our life back together, but we're not there yet and those sweet happy little pillowcases would bring a little life and cheer back into our abode. I just adore the Oh Mabel range so so much. I would love to perch these pretties on our bed and rest easy.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Love your blog! It's inspired me in so many ways. I would love these pillows cases for my son. I plan on getting him a toddler bed soon ;) He's jumping out of the crib now.
We share a room so these would fit right in with my white bed. It's tricky to decorate for a toddler and myself but I've been managing until we find a bigger space. These would be great!

  69. My name is sarah dixon, am from Dublin. i want to use this opportunity to thank my great doctor who really made my life a pleasurable one today. This great man DR.Zaza brought my husband back to me, i had 2 lovely kids for my husband, about 3 years ago i and my husband has been into one quarrel or the other until he finally left me for one lady. i felt my life was over and my kids thought they would never see their father again. i tried to be strong just for the kids but i could not control the pains that torments my heart, my heart was filled with sorrows and pains because i was really in love with my husband. Every day and night i think of him and always wish he would come back to me, until one day i met a good friend of mine that was also in a situation like me but her problem was her ex-boyfriend who she had an unwanted pregnancy for and he refused to take responsibility and dumped her. she told me that mine was a small case and that i shouldn't worry about it at all so i asked her what was the solution to my problems and she gave me this great man phone number and his email address. i was doubting if this man was the solution, so contacted this great man and he told me what to do and i deed them all, he told me to wait for just two day and that my husband will come crawling on his kneels just for forgiveness so i faithfully deed what this great man asked me to do and for sure after two days i heard a knock on the door, in a great surprise i saw him on his kneels and i was speechless, when he saw me, all he did was crying and asking me for forgiveness, from that day, all the pains and sorrows in my heart flew away, since then i and my husband and our lovely kids are happy.that's why i want to say a big thank you to drzazaspelltemple100@hotmail.com This great man made me to understand that there no problem on earth that has no solution so please if you know that you have this same problem or any problem that is similar, i will advise you to come straight to this great man. you can email him at: Email: drzazaspelltemple100@hotmail.com or call+2348103508204

  71. Because I am 23 weeks pregnant with #3! Comfortable is my life motto. I have never spent much money on myself, let alone bed linen so this would seem extremely indulgent (and I imagine, hard to go back to my opshop sheets on bed changing day!).

  72. We've been moving our bedrooms around, as we're also expecting our third child. From March on, we'll be living in a three-bedroom apartment as a family of five, so the only space that I feel like is entirely my own place is the bed -- and that is true for daytime only, because at night, there is always a little one curling up next to us. So, during the day I cherish our bedroom's luring promise of beauty, calm, and undisturbed sleep all the more, and fine flowery linen would definitely help to uphold that dream. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration coming constantly from your blog!

  73. I would love these pillowcases. I love linen, but rarely buy anything new, so these would just be a lovely surprise! :)

  74. We just moved into our first place alone as a family in over two years. We moved in with family when my now-almost 3 year old was 9 months old. All that time of getting back on our feet financially didn't leave any room for updating our homegoods. What a treat these would be!!

  75. Hi Jodi , I'd love to win some new pillowcases because I'd like to wake up in a field of wildflowers and pinwheels

  76. I am buying my daughter a new bed for Christmas, I have the Sheets, doona cover, mattress protecter and these pillow cases would be the perfect finishing touch, I love 'Oh mabel' and I have been drooling over the pinwheel and the Elizabeth Olive sheets for a while, ........and I have a grey doona cover on my bed so these would look great on my bed too!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I wish I could convince you that I need them but need is such a strong word. I want them a lot though. Because laying your head on something beautiful is such a nice way to make yourself feel extra cared for and this time of the year is rife with burnout. Sleep cures all though.

    ReplyDelete
  78. These are so beautiful! I 'need' (really REALLY want) them because I'm still using the old pillow cases I took from my mum's linen closet clean out 'to throw away' pile when I moved out 10 years ago... thread bare is an understatement!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Dear Jodi, after 15 months of broken nights (my poor baby girl had horrible reflux for the first 10 months of her life, then came teething, nightmares and who knows what...) I believe I do need lovely pillows to put my head onto. Especially as I still breastfeed this lovely pumkin- a real pleasure but not so much any more when it's every night at that age!
Thanks for the opportunity anyway, I didn't know this brand before. Lovely colours and print. And being frozen by winter cold here, I can't tell you how appealing your gorgeous sunny airy bedroom seems to me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. oh with a new baby on the way fresh pillow cases would be icing on the cake of a comfy bed :)

  81. As the mother of three young kids, I could only wake more refreshed and calm with such beautiful pillow cases.

  82. How beautiful!! I'd simply love them because they are pretty, in all honesty, and I don't think you can ever really have too many pillows. My sister loves pillows, too, so perhaps I would give them to her....

  83. thanks to everyone commenting and also to the organizers of this site because this has helped my marriage, I can't believe my husband changed just as he promised, so i must testify too. I was having troubles in my marriage and i was almost giving up because my partner wouldn't find anything good in me anymore and it looked like we were not meant to be because he hardly talk to me or even touches me . Out of frustration i came online to see if there's anything i can do to help my situation and last week I saw a post on how a lady saved her marriage through the help of a great man and i decided to try him because i was going through hell as me and my husband were like neighbors under the same roof . i contacted him as the testifier gave away his email and the man said he could help me. i thought maybe it will take a long time but within 48 hours after he finished his work my husband came home apologizing for the way he hurt me something he would never do normally even if it was obvious he was wrong. seriously i have nothing more to say other than thank you great man. if your marriage is failing or its a mess and you want to save it please don't give up this really works out here is the email i used to contact him i am sure he can help prophet.briancarn@yahoo.com of a truth he really helps again his email his prophet.briancarn@yahoo.com
