We explore often; this beautiful land of ours with its green, blue and ochre palette. "Fun" is being outside in the open where the hills meet the shore, a mid-winter getaway to nourish and restore. The pebbles were in abundance so we skimmed them across the surface and built zen towers on the sand. Spiral seashells licked with salt, keepsakes in our pockets.
We sat and talked with friends and on the way back home we blew breath on dandelion flowers till there were only the stems - beautiful ephemera.
Over six chapters of the sling diaries I have celebrated babywearing in Australia. Poet has, in the past six months, been worn in the sling as we travelled and explored. From her perch on my hip she has seen three cities, country orchards, ancient bushland and sandy beaches. It's been a wonderful journey and such a blessing to have her close, just where she should be.
You and your beautiful family shine in the outdoors. The connection you have with nature is so apparant in all of your photos. Tim has captured magic once again! I will definately invest in one of these slings if we have a bubba number 3. How much longer do you think you'll be able to carry poet in it? Love and light :) x
I think I'll carry Poet for at least another year. It just makes bushwalking and beach trips and the 'duck to the shops' SO much easier. She loves it too but I am finding that she wants to get out sooner now...she wants to explore! x
These images are just beautiful. It certainly looks like all of you enjoyed having fun and what a stunning spot, being with nature is one of our favourite pass times as a family too. x
I have been thinking about getting a sakura bloom sling (to add to my collection and in time for number 2 due in October), but shipping cost from their main site is bumping up the price quite a bit. I can't see any local (Australian) stockists - do you know of any?
Miranda, I don't, sorry. Perhaps there's another reader who is interested in buying a sling and you could share the postage costs....I'll let you know x
I looked into the same thing Miranda. I spoke to Sakura Bloom and they informed me their Australian shop is www.karritreelane.com I just purchased from them this week. I found one more too www.frangIpanibaby.com.au Not as many colours but cheaper due to postage. Hope u don't mind me commenting Jodi and good luck Miranda x
these are such precious captures Jodi. I've never actually worn any of mine on the hip like that. do you find that you compensate by holding yourself crooked (as you do when carrying a child on your hip without a sling) or does having a sling prevent that? and is it comfortable on the opposite shoulder where the weight is carried? i'd like to carry Sawyer for longer but he is already so heavy and i'm not brave enough to try wrapping him on my back! x D
These pictures are so lovely, the perfect setting. Also I just wanted to thankyou for your comment on my post last week, it really was helpful and a great comfort..x
Just ordered my first sakura bloom in their 2013 sample sale online! Makes postage to Australia a bit more bearable :) I'm sooooo excited! Got the essential linen in wheat/twlight. I can't wait!! Thanks for the inspiration Jodi x
