beach ready with futah towels

Going to the beach with kids in tow is always an adventure - one that requires forethought, a basket of supplies and a fair bit of patience. Regardless of the fact that we can walk to our local beach, it still takes us about half-an-hour to make it out the door.

Sunscreen? Hats? Ear plugs? Bucket + spade? Umbrella? Water bottles? Towels?

There is always something missing regardless of how organised I try to be. Last summer was a little easier - Percy was in my belly. This summer he's on my hip, requires long sleeves and a hat (best protect that milky baby skin) and he doesn't stay put on the towel - he likes to crawl off it and eat all the sand. It's safe to say that I won't be reading a book while working on my tan anytime soon.

Over the years I've paired back our beach essentials to include the necessities. Swimmers are worn down to the sand and beach towels are slung over shoulders. I take a plastic tupperware container for the sunscreen, my phone and the keys and I always carry at least one drink bottle. We have a range of towels that make their way from the sand to the washing line to the sand again - all brightly coloured as good beach towels should be. When Adriana from Futah got in touch, I was more than happy to test drive her lightweight Egyptian cotton towels - especially the xl family size one (yes, we all fit on it!) and the kids range.

Originating in Portugal, Futah towels are light, highly absorbent and very resistant to salt and sun. Sydney-sider Adriana Alves recently brought the product to Australia and has received an overwhelming response from passionate Aussie beach-goers. So why are they so popular? "The Futah towels are much loved because of their original design and colours (ranging from vibrant and colourful patterns to classic navy stripes), but also their small volume and low weight – who wants extra bulkiness when going to the beach?"

Every few years I gift beach towels to the ocean swimmers in our family and every time they are warmly received. Futah is offering free postage Australia-wide and a 10% discount till the end of November with the code: "simplicity".

This is a sponsored post. Thanks so much for supporting the brands that support me.

  1. Was the kids size big enough for Che? Or would you recommend the adult size?

    1. I would recommend getting the adult single size, if I were you (so it lasts a good few years!). Poet is wearing the single in that last photo...the kids size is perfect for a toddler x

  2. I keep looking longingly at other people on the beach with these towels as they look so pretty but I have been hesitant to make the investment as I have been frightened they wouldn't be absorbent enough. I am intrigued, does one towel really dry a sopping wet adult?! Thanks! Emma

    1. Haha, yes, they are very absorbent. And the best thing about them is that they dry (again) very quickly so once you've dried yourself you can wrap it around your waist and wear it as a sarong. I find that the more I use them, the more absorbent they become x
