in kind | a mum + me gift bundle giveaway

this is a sponsored post - thank you for supporting the unique brands that, in turn, support me

If I was going to open a online store it would be a carbon copy of In Kind. Each unique item is hand picked and ethically made - a beautiful collection of clothes, body products, toys and heirloom pieces that are timeless in their look and quality.

Krystin McCourt created In Kind to satisfy her need to create and collate. Once the owner of an etsy store, Krystin discovered an abundance of likeminded artists and makers through the creative blogging community and she admits that she's been obsessively curating Pinterest boards and wish lists ever since.

Following the birth of her third baby Krystin made the decision to invest her creative energy into an online store and In Kind was launched soon after. "Running a small business from home is what makes the most sense for me right now," she says. "Mothering my children will always be my priority but I feel that I can also handle the work that goes into In Kind. I really enjoy supporting talented artists and small businesses and helping them share their beautifully made, high quality products with the world."

In her quest to discover unique products, Krystin looks for high quality and originality without ever compromising function and comfort; heirloom items that can be loved and passed down to the next generation. "I believe that less is more and by being more mindful of what we choose to bring into our homes we can change the way we live our lives," she says. Whilst her taste is undoubtedly classic and elegant, she is inspired by her children and her home and the authentic spirit of the prairies and the Rocky Mountains. Every item in her store embodies simplicity, beauty and a touch of nostalgia.

In Kind's best-selling items include COMMONFOLK Bears - handmade, they're buttery soft and a little grumpy looking; the indulgent range of Herbivore Botanicals; Peg and Awl botanical necklaces; Chloe May Brown's ceramic hanging planters and OYOY's Ayo cushions. Krystin kindly donates 25% of all proceeds to the Canadian Cancer Society in loving memory of her Uncle who passed away in 2005.

"In Kind is my way of connecting with others. Motherhood can be an isolating experience at times and I feel really fortunate to have already met so many inspiring women who strive to support and empower one another. I hope to enjoy working on this new venture for as long as it lasts, supporting the artists and makers I choose to highlight and sparking joy with each order I send off," she says.

  1. What I love most about In Kind is that reading this post just inspired me so much. I have had a dream of starting and running a small business from home once our little baby gets here (in just a few weeks!), but that dream has felt too big and scary to start putting into action. Reading about In Kind made me want to just go for it!

  2. What I love most about In Kind is that it's Canadian! There is so little out there that is available to us. There's not much that is located in Canada and most non-Canadian sources won't ship to us. And I would love to win this bundle as the products would be such a treat, especially on my budget.

  3. What I love about In Kind is that it shares beautiful things that are useful. There is nothing like receiving a beautifully packaged at your door. Being able to know that those items were carefully selected and thought about. It just makes it that much more special.

  4. We are having our second baby girl this October. To be nourished by food, laughter, rest, newborn and toddler snuggles, music, morning rituals, deep friendships- that is healing, mind, body, and soul. To win this bundle would be a sweet extension of that beauty and grace during the first few weeks and months with a new baby. I love that In Kind supports and empowers others, gives back to the cancer society, and was started by a mama! Everything is beautiful!

  5. What I love about InKind is the emphasis on high quality goods. I feel that so many products marketed to the maternity, baby and postpartum world are 'disposable', which I think is wasteful. I hope to be pregnant several times in the upcoming years and would rather invest in beautiful, practical and well made goods such as theirs. Thank you for the opportunity to win some!

  6. I'm so happy to have discovered In Kind now, because it's the exact thing we're striving for in our home right now. The cyclical nature of fashion, beauty, home goods, baby things all worries me. We've been purging our excess in the past few months and trying to only bring a few quality things back in. The smaller the footprints those things have, and the more we can support small business and at-home makers, the better. This bundle is exactly what I'm looking to bring into our home now that we've gotten rid of so much; i would love to have some quality heirloom pieces for my son, and supporting so many good causes and people would thrill me. I think the idea behind In Kind is wonderful and I'll definitely be keeping up with her.

  7. What I love most about In Kind is the balance of both quality and beautiful products! My husband and I are welcoming our first child into the world this December and we want to make it a point to simplify the items we buy, and to make quality first priority, while being on a budget. I would love to have these items for our little guy!

  8. My husband and I are getting ready to welcome our first child to the world. We are excited to embark on a new adventure and discover what the next chapter of our lives has in store.

In Kind is the perfect mix of loveliness - Beauty and comfort. Use and purpose. We appreciate small businesses like these that share great design and provide quality products.

Our little girl would be one lucky lady to receive this giveaway. A bundle for our bundle!

  9. I really like that In Kind combines beautiful products for mum and bub - making last minute shopping simple and a complete pleasure, as opposed to a stressful hunt for mediocre products around multiple shops. And the presentation is just the cherry on top. You have the best affiliates, Jodi. Hope all is going well x

  11. I love that In Kind allows Krystin to work from home and connects her to other mothers. It's true, motherhood can be so terribly isolating! If I'm going to shop, I like knowing where my money goes and I'm especially happy if that money supports women, especially mothers.

  12. I love that In Kind is an ethical company with beautiful things! It isn't always easy to find truly generous and ethical companies these days!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I love that they support artists and it can be really hard for people to get their product out there and get support. They have so many beautiful products!

  14. What I love about In Kind is not only the beautifully simple products Krystin has selected for her shop but her courage to open her online shop. I for some reason think her courage came from having her children. I think it's because I've had a baby this year too and felt myself gain qualities I never thought I'd have. When someone becomes more important than you, you gain special powers, unbelievably special ones. Having a year off from my 9-5 job makes me admire Krystin. Someone who decided to be brave and expand on her dreams. Inspiring!

  15. Small business is fantastic! Not only is In Kind supporting artisan producers and creators, it's helping Krystin be there for her family and nurture her interests and strengths. Beautiful products. That grumpy bear is so gorgeously grumpy :) I just had baby #2 two weeks ago after 5 weeks in hospital. Thank goodness hubby runs his own business, as it meant he could be stay at home daddy to our two year old. So grateful.

  16. I adore how she packages these beautiful combinations. And the products she picks - they aren't only beautiful, but supporting small businesses. I love that! And with a little one on the way, this would be such a sweet surprise!

  17. She has an especially curated selection of beautiful and useful things in her shop. I love that there is a fairly large variety of things even while being a certain kind of shop. I especially appreciate the fair trade nature of her choices. Everything has a cost, usually it's hidden and takes its toll on human lives.

  18. The simplicity, ethics, beauty and comfort wrapped up in the treasures from In Kind are what makes them so appealing. That...and to find them all in one place saves a whole lot of time, research and angst! Thanks for opportunity to win some of these gorgeous items.

  19. hmmm wow, what an amazing shop! What really stuck with me reading about In Kind is that her products are of high quality that can be passed down as heirloom toys that will last for generations .. I find that is really something that touches my heart. Nowadays you can buy so many cheap toys that last if lucky a few years. I grew up in Austria and I moved to New Zealand a few years ago ... now married and have a 20months old beautiful boy called Samuel. I get a lot of times homesick as I don't have any family here. A few months back I skyped with my parents and my mom mentioned that she has a few toys we used to play as kids but no one wants them anymore (she was talking about my brothers and their families) and I said I'd love to have them if I only could! Well can you believe it - she posted me quite a big parcel with the toys basically to the other end of the world and when I opened it and found this grey dog I used to play with when I was little I was so overwhelmed because not only was it part of my childhood but it actually belonged to my dad when he was a baby/child AND I can pass it now on to my Sammy. So yes, I love the idea of passing down toys. And not to forget as Krystin says it's better to have only a few good toys and appreciate them. Not only does that help to create a clutter free home but also create long lasting memories with only a few toys! Love love love this concept!

  20. What I love most about In Kind is their sale section. Haha, yup, I'm the girl who goes straight to the back of the store to check out the sale rack before browsing around! I sure love a bargain! But really though, Krystin has such good taste! I'm totally digging everything in her whole store!

  21. Becoming a mother has been the greatest honor and blessing I could've ever imagined. I can really appreciate that In Kind seems to be an extension of how Krystin views motherhood. Hand-selecting pieces that reflect beauty, simplicity and quality are all attributes that we need to instill in our children when it comes to the appreciation of the world we live in. By purchasing these products we are also supporting many other mompreneurs out there and that something to be commended. I am a stay at home mother myself and appreciate this wonderful community of Motherhood. We are all the underrated superheroes, the Clark Kents behind the scenes conquering every day with love and gratitude that we get to do this thing called parenting. I am just a mother no more deserving than any other here, but would love and appreciate the treasures this box holds <3

  22. Like others, I'm a mother who dreams of having her own online store. Time, especially with a four month old who won't sleep unless he's on me, is a major factor, but perhaps one day in the future it will happen.
Goodness, In Kind has some gloriously beautiful things. I particularly love the gift bundles. I have a few pregnant friends and In Kind's style is just what they'd like too.

  23. What I love most about In Kind is that all products are ethically made. Finding ethical options for products I use is extremely difficult and this deeply saddens me as the term ethical encompasses a myriad of things. Firstly the people who made the product are ensured to get a fair wage for their hard work and time away from their loved ones, they are also not exposed to harmful chemicals because they are working with organic supplies. Secondly, the environment isn't as heavily impacted on because of these supplies and hopefully more of an effort is put into sourcing material locally to support small local business. With companies like In kind doing their bit by endeavouring to sell ethical items they are setting an amazing example that others are likely to follow and a ripple effect of positive change is inevitable.

  24. You had me at the first photo with it's tranquil colours and tones. It is indeed so encouraging to find someone who shares an aesthetic and a love for thoughtful pieces. I also love that Krystin donates 25% of proceeds, an incredibly generous gesture and certainly the kind of business I's love to support. I love that I could buy gifts for many of my friends (and a treat for myself and my family if I'm honest) from this one online store. I'd have trouble letting go of the Rosy Lip Tint, Cardamon Butter (really loving cardamon right now) and Joshua Tree Zip Pouch (to be shared with my Joshua) but I'd like to share the other items with my sister and girlfriends. x

  25. This is lovely and just what this mama of three littles needs! Beautiful products, good ethics, thank you for the chance!

  26. This is so beautiful. And I thank Briar from marble and milkweed for showing me this. Appreciate that In Kind donates to charity yet also makes long lasting carefully curated items. Living a holistic (as possible) lifestyle and living sustainably has become to important to me in recent years, its not about quantity but the quality and I love to write about these these in my own site and discuss it with others to live a simpler life, I know people with babies and try to help them (when they ask) on holistic ways of living and interacting (because I do work with little ones in a hospital as a volunteer) - yet as an artist I appreciate that this wonderful lady, basically became her own lady-boss and started this all up within a community, nothing is more beautiful than that and I am glad to see it alive and well, especially that they seek well-made, high quality products for little ones and mums. I would be so honored to win this bundle and feel/see the beauty of many folk's creative genius.

  27. SO thrilled to see Krystin's beautiful new business! I am in the process of adopting my sweet son through foster care at the moment. I am still finding my way through this whole motherhood thing, we've only had him for four months, but of course I am completely in love. He is beautiful, and vital, and hilarious, and he loves me which is an amazing feeling. I have been thinking a lot about how so many mothers (fathers too!) can sink into motherhood and let it drown them a bit. I am one of eight children, so I have seen my mother put her children first in spite of herself my entire life. Now that our little one is here I can see how easy it is for that to happen. I want to spend to every moment with him, and I am finding that if I don't get that little bit of alone time to be creative or just soak in some solitude I start to lose a bit of myself. It is almost like I need a charge up so I can be better for him. Besides loving every single item in this package I love how it is for both mom and baby! Good luck everyone!

  28. I like that everything on their website is ethically made. We're having our second baby and I think this bundle would be lovely to have. foxesandfigs@gmail.com

  29. This would be a fantastic gift for my middle daughter, the busy mom of three girls under 5. I love that In Kind products are ethically made and, having had a recent bout with one of the most rare forms of cancer...one which no one knows much of anything about...I'm ever so grateful that they contribute to a better understanding of the damned disease. Also, being Canadian, I love that this is a Canadian company. :D

  30. I love everything that In Kind encompasses, I have such admiration for Krystin for following her dreams, and she definitely has an excellent eye for finding and sourcing beautiful things, giving new businesses an amazing platform and creating an online community, but her generosity of donating to charity is especially touching. I'm a stay at home mum currently preparing to welcome baby no2 in 12 weeks time and a little bit of pampering for myself and some beautiful things for the new bundle of joy would be greatly appreciated, thanks Krystin and Jodi for this chance to win!

  31. Wow this is my first introduction to In Kind and I'm so inspired by what I see and what I just read here about it. In my own life I desire to live more simply and sustainably and to be more mindful of the things I bring into my life and my home. I have three small children (newest baby not quite two months old) and I want to teach them to live in a way that counteracts our culture's materialism and insane consumptionism (I'm making that a word :) ). I love that In Kind support small businesses and artisans. I love that you choose hand-made, quality items that are beautiful and functional. I love that you value simplicity and quality over quantity. And how wonderful to donate such a generous portion of your sales to cancer research! I would love to gift this gorgeous bundle to my best friend who has been trying for too long to have a baby and has suffered a miscarriage along the way. I am praying and believing for her to soon get pregnant again and have a healthy baby and I would so love to bless her with this gift.

  32. Oh my, how beautiful. What a lovely store, and I'm off to read her blog now too. What a perfect balance of ethical, beautiful, meaningful and charitable.
I'm too tired to strum up poignent prose tonight. Besides, my 13 month old is lying across me in bed, bum in the air and head over my legs. Go to sleep, little one *~*
Best of luck to all those who manage to write lovely, resonating words! x

  33. I'll be honest. Sometimes it's difficult for me to enter these giveaways that ask readers to share what they love most about some aspect of motherhood or about some company that I've never heard of. Becoming a mother has been a difficult journey for me, and I still have almost two months until I finally give birth and experience it for myself. And one of the reasons I read blogs like this one is to become acquainted with products and creatives I might never otherwise encounter. I don't know what I love most about In Kind, but thanks to your glowing recommendation, I am eager to find out.

I love the thought that each item has been hand picked for reasons close to my heart - ethically made, handmade, small business etc. A dear friend of mine is due to have her first baby at the end of the month and I would be honoured to be able to give her such a beautiful gift as she embarks on such a momentous adventure xx

  40. What a beautiful shop! I love that In Kind focuses on ethically produced items--I have made an effort over the past year to be more conscious of where everything I buy is coming from. I'm expecting #3 in four months and would love this bundle for myself and baby!

  41. My dearest friend in the universe is expecting her first child. In Kind is completely in keeping with her desire to use only beautiful, ethical products for herself & her baby. Lovely philosophy behind this amazing company & collection of items!! Many thanks for the opportunity to win this wonderful bundle for my dear friend & her precious little bundle-to-be!!! ♥

  42. Aside from appreciating the overwhelming beauty of everything offered at In Kind, and being happy to see the work a few familiar makers, I love that this business is supporting rather than hindering at-home parenting. I love being able to support mamas who are trying to carve out new ways to work and mother full time. I would be so grateful to win this gift bundle for my newly born nephew. A beautiful baby gift isn't in my very tight budget at the moment, and it would be amazing to be able to send a box of items I would buy if I could to mama and baby.

  43. I've come to love and admire some of the small Australian businesses that you highlight in this space. As a Canadian reader though, shipping prices generally dictate that it'll all be eye candy only for this Mama ;) I was delighted then to discover In Kind through this post! I happen to have a very close friend who lives in Edmonton, Alberta and who is expecting her first baby in a few short weeks. I would just love to bless her with this gift set! xo

  48. Hi :) The store and its products are breathtaking. If the In Kind bundle is to come to me, then the pouch would go to my friend in Sweden & pants and shirt to my friend in Poland, ane white bear could be a friend to my sons' stuffed pinguins from Vancouver Aquarium. Cheers

  49. I love that cultivation and mission of In Kind is exactly how I myself feel about supporting and sharing small businesses. I like how special it is to own handmade items and even better how good it feels to support one another. I hope by buying and teaching my 4 kids about they beauty of handmade that they will seek to create and inspire others in their own lives.

  50. I would really appreciate this bundle of goodness. I am six weeks pregnant with my first baby and really need some pampering for myself (getting used to the churning stomach!). I am a simple needs kind of a lady so I have brought anything for my baby just yet and the gorgeous, heirloom nature of these products just look exactly what I would love forever. xx

  51. I'm so thrilled to read about In Kind. One of my closest friends is due with her second in just a few weeks and this beautiful brand sums her up wonderfully. She's always looking out for others, the environment and helping friends and family grow and fulfil their dreams. We meet at the birth of our first babies and now three years on I can't imagine her not being in my life. She has supported me in so many ways and I've been feeling despondent that I can't reciprocate in a lot of ways at the moment due to our personal situation. Receiving this gorgeous bundle of treasures would be a delightful way I can spoil her back :)

  52. I think it's important to surround yourself with simple, beautiful objects, but particularly important as you welcome a wee new one into your life (when anyone could use a little pampering, a little simple, handmade beauty). What a lovely gift!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ever since she's started up, I've been in love with this shop! I love her aesthetic and the embodiment of simplicity, beauty and nostalgia- all things that I also value! I would love to win this because I am going to be an auntie (again!) this year and would love to give such a special gift to my sister and the new little one.

  54. I just came upon your site after inquiring with Gray Label about their Canadian stockists. I'm so thrilled to have found you! We've moved to a small town recently and I find I do most of our shopping online - but just as it is for shopping in a brick and mortar store, there are some online shops that just make the whole shopping experience a beautiful thing! I really enjoyed looking at so many of the items you have curated, after finding the Gray Label products I was at first seeking out. Again, just so happy to have found this lovely shop!

  55. Thank you for introducing me to In Kind! Such beauty, such simplicity and so special for moms and little ones - a difficult order when it comes to things for kids and mammas. I love that the products are Canadian. I was born and raised in Toronto but moved away to my family's native island when I was 22 - I miss it deeply (its been 17 years). I love that the products are simple yet so beautiful, easily cherished from generation to generation and the luscious beauty items-wow. But what struck me most was that proceeds go to the Candian Cancer Society. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer last year, this means a lot to me. I am seeing all the beautiful natural skin care items and it sure would be a treat to my body and skin after my chemo (although I have completed my chemo, my body is still recovering). I'd love to give the super soft looking bear to my little guy - I think he'd love it. It's true, motherhood can be quite isolating, and I have had my fair share of feeling that way since my son was born with a rare syndrome and chronic kidney disease, with no other children in the country with the same syndrome (he went through 5 surgeries last year while I was going through my chemo, and he wasn't even 2 yo yet). I have felt incredibly alone. I have found such support online and I know just how much of a difference these relationships can make. I hope that In Kind will be around for a very long time!

  56. Living simply doesn't mean that you don't get to own the things that you'd like; rather, you own fewer things that you truly treasure. It is about getting one perfect top in the color that makes you shine, rather than ten cheaper ones in every shade of the rainbow. What I love about In Kind is that it promotes this idea about living simply through their collection of high-quality items that are truly a pleasure to own, and can be enjoyed for years to come. They combine simplicity with ethics, as their items are all carefully considered in order to ensure that each object is made without harm to person, animal, or planet. In Kind represents the mindset that we should all strive to have; one that doesn't sacrifice quality or morals for profit.

  57. Looking through the In Kind website made me feel so calm and at peace. Their beautiful products just radiate simplicity. Quality products that are made to last....well, that is just music to my ears. I also love that they are a Canadian company; I have not discovered any other companies like this in Canada (where I live). I would love to win this giveaway to experience the products for myself, though I would send the grumpy teddy bear to my sister in British Columbia as she is expecting a baby. Thank you for hosting such a wonderful giveaway and bringing such a beautiful company to my attention.

  58. I'd love to win this giveaway, just like everyone else! In Kind sounds like a great company, donating 25% is a big deal. These are truly thoughtful, beautifully crafted goods that my new bub and I (due next month!) would be lucky to receive. x

  59. I admit it..I was drawn to this by the little cat :) Seriously, everything is lovely! Expecting a new baby so this would be too perfect. Thanks!

  60. I would love to win this for my friend who is currently pregnant with her first bundle of joy, everything in this is so beautiful, it looks so soft and perfect for a fresh baby.

  61. There are so many positive things transpiring through the existence of such a company as In Kind. What I love most though, is the feeling I get when I look through the selection of product and the way it is presented and packaged. When I see that mum + me bundle, I can't help but smile from within. I think, "somebody gets it, somebody gets me." I would just fall over if someone gifted me such a perfect collection, and I would shine as bright as day giving it away for someone else to love. It is a truly beautiful thing happening here.

  62. Simple natural products remind me of a time when life moved slower, when people thought less and did more, a time that we spent just being. Comfortable. Happy. Present. In kind is fresh, clean, and quality. It stands out without even trying. It's effortlessly cool. We could use more brands like it. And that packaging! All around win.

I would love to win this bundle as I set out to expand my little family.
In Kind is beautiful and lovely and this giveaway is full of sweetness for baby and mama.

    ReplyDelete
  63. What I love most about In Kind is its support of artists and the beautifully crafted.
In our disposable society, it is so important to appreciate the individually made.
I would love to win this wonderful giveaway as I am 40 years old, 31 weeks pregnant with my first child, and more than a little anxious and overwhelmed.

  64. In Kind encapsulates what I love in compnies-ethical, eco-sensitive and elegantly simple. Those goodies are sumptuous, The earthy colours particularly resonate with me at the moment as I'm in the throes of raging, scarlet red mastitis. The third bout in as many months! Anyway... just gazing upon those peaceful hues is soothing. So, thank you Jodie and In Kind. X

  65. What I love most about In Kind is that the pieces are beautifully simple and originally, and ethically handmade.
I would love to win the bundle, because I would adore being able to pass down each piece as a very special heirloom, from a very special time of life.

  66. This is the first I've heard of this small company but will certainly support Krystin in the future. I'm entering this giveaway for a lovely friend of mine who is about to embark on single motherhood with her first baby due in December. It's a bit of a scary time for her due to the financial stress of being single yet wanting a year off working away from her baby girl. This would really be such a lift for her. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

  67. This is an absolutely beautiful company with beautiful goods. One of my dearest friends just gave birth to her first child, a daughter. Just over a year ago she had a stillborn at 7months gestation. I would give her this lovely gift to add more sweetness to what must be a bittersweet time for her.

  68. i love how In Kind supports the cancer fund AND local artisans, very cool.
i think we could really use a grumpy bear- my little guy has been having a challenging time with some medical issues and lots of medical appointments that can be scary for him- i think having a visual for how he is feeling at times when he is "grumpy" would be helpful and he could also cuddle with him too :) we have to get a grumpy bear! i just love them!
