Babywearing in winter can cause all kinds of clothing dilemmas; jackets and coats that don't quite fit, restrained arms and the time-consuming process of getting dressed in far too many layers.
Enter B & Me NYC; a babywearing coat that simplifies parenting without sacrificing style.
It was mid-winter in NYC when Sarah Clark first discovered the ease of a babywearing coat. "I was getting my two older children ready for school and noticed that my husband hadn't worn his big puffer coat to work. Instead of waking up baby, Booker, to put him in his snowsuit, I put him in the baby carrier and put the puffer coat over both of us and off we went. Wearing one coat together made leaving the apartment effortless and kept us both warm and bundled," she says.
The native New Yorker and mum of three decided then and there to create a simple, practical and stylish coat for parents and babies. She scouted around for a reputable seamstress who created the pattern and made the first prototype. The first samples were made in the city's Garment District and the first collection was created in Minnesota.
Since launching, Sarah has received the most positive feedback from her clientele; busy mums who are always on the go and want to be hands-free, despite the chill factor. For someone who wholeheartedly understands the chaos of parenting small children, she's proud of creating a product that makes the day-to-day that much easier.
While Sarah and her family are relishing in the first few days of their NYC summer (apparently they're eating avocado on toast, drinking fresh lemonade and stopping by the icy lady on the way to the park), here in the Southern Hemisphere winter has well and truly arrived.
Sarah is offering one reader a chance to win a B & Me Coat valued at $185USD. To enter, tell us a little bit about what you love about babywearing in winter. The comment that resonates most will win.
