the 52 project : the book

The true beauty of this project is evident when I look at these pages; one photo a week for an entire year and I have this - a keepsake book of everyday moments and memories. These photos were taken during 2013 and yet when I look at them I distinctly remember the time, place and mood. As a collection these portraits represent their childhood and my motherhood; precious life.

I have spent most of this year procrastinating about creating this. Indeed, I've put it off time and time again because going through my hard drive and recovering all the high-res images seemed like far too much work (I really regret not organising my photos sooner). But then Ronnie - formerly Pink Ronnie, now blogging over at Life : Captured -  created a template for The 52 Project and she emailed me to let me know that all I would have to do is slip each photo and caption in; all the hard design work was already done. During 2013 she captured her four beautiful boys in one shot (successfully, every week!) and she recently documented her experience and the final product over here

Ronnie has a designer's eye that I admire. She values negative space, clean lines and simple structure and she's brought these elements to these templates. The two styles of templates for The 52 Project, which include cover design template, title page template and photo layout page templates, will be available to purchase for $14.99 very soon (launch date will be announced on instagram : @lifecapturedinc).

Ronnie has kindly given my readers a 20% discount on any/all story book templates from now until 31st January 2015. Just enter the code PRACSIMPLICITY at checkout.

    2. Hello Cara,
No use by date! You can use the template as many times and for as long as you want. In other words, you can create as many books for The 52 Project with it as you wish.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

  6. Hi ladies, you have both been so inspiring this year with your blogs and photos! I'm so pleased I've nearly completed my first year of the 52 project and was wanting to do a photo book so this is perfect. I have three children and have done a blurb each week about the photos and what we've been up to that week. Will the templates work ok for me to achieve a clean look for each week with so much content? Is it easy to upload to another website to get it printed? I've seen you both use Artifact Uprising so am keen to use them too. I haven't used InDesign before so will be a beginner! Thanks so much.

    1. Hello!
If you have a look at the blog post that Jodi linked to above, you'll see that the version of the book that I created for myself actually allows for quite a bit of text whilst not compromising on the clean look. You'll probably find that that version might suit you better. Hope that helps!

  7. At the start of this year someone mentioned about putting the photos in a separate folder for The 52 Project so once I uploaded my photos to my blog I saved the photo into a special folder so that they are altogether in the one spot. The thought of going back and finding which day those photos were taken put me off too until someone mentioned that and it's been great. So when I'm ready to do my book all the photos are together - super easy......I loved the photos you posted above my favourite is the one and the old wardrobe mirror...so nostalgic. 8. Just to confirm - the template is for use with InDesign software (so I would also need to buy InDesign if I don't already have it)?

  9. I love photos of my children (and yours), but I just have not stuck with the 52 Project yet. The approaching new year and this book template are more reason for me to stick with it this year! I love your site and your photography, thanks for you all you do! Peace from the US!
