happy spring! it's time to share some news
I'm so happy to tell you that baby #3 is growing beautifully. I'm 13 weeks pregnant, due early March, and we are ecstatic.
It's been difficult to keep it from you (although I'm sure some of you may have guessed from my quieter ways of late). Indeed, all I have wanted to write about is this pregnancy, the emotions and challenges of the first trimester and the way that joy and overwhelm seem to coexist for me right now. I've got much to share over the coming weeks.
Winter was the perfect season for my first trimester; I definitely took hibernation to a completely new level - a daily nap was essential and early nights were the norm. Now, with the onset of spring and warmth, I'm enjoying the return of energy, clarity and motivation. Every morning Che and Poet join me in bed to talk about the baby, how much it has grown and whether it's ready to be born yet. The day after we told them the news (at 10 weeks) Poet said to me: "It's taking soooo long to be born!" Indeed, it will take a little longer. Unsurprisingly, Che would like a boy (named Tintin) and Poet would like a girl (named Elsa). We won't find out the sex; the surprise is just too precious to give up.
Let the pregnancy documentation begin (although don't expect weekly belly shots, I'm far too disorganised for that!)...

ReplyDeleteWonderful news! Congratulations. Our third child was born four months ago, and while I was a little nervous about how I would cope with the ratio of more children than adults, she has fit into the family perfectly and everything seems to have fallen into place. Now I can't imagine life without her and she is so doted on my her two big sisters. I'm sure the same will happen for you :)

ReplyDeleteOh such beautiful news, blessings to you all. That was my exact timing with Marlin... Born March and first trimester through Winter. I LOVED it, as you say, Winter was the perfect time that energetically supported so well with its invitation to hibernate - that first trimester so demanding of rest and stillness. And birthing in March was again the same, with a wee newborn in autumn and winter, it was again the perfect time to hibernate in that quite world of baby. All the love xxxx

ReplyDeleteoh wow. you look so cute with your third baby growing. congratulations, enjoy, and yes i suspected. xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Another beautiful person to join your beautiful family. I am thinking about how you mention that joy and overwhelm are your feelings - I definitely understand; I felt the same way while expecting (surprise!) number four - with a small amount of panic thrown in the mix. I say embrace the overwhelm, and use it to help mentally prepare yourself for the stretch to three - if you expect it to be busy, it's not so difficult to cope with when it is. I found this really helped when preparing to welcome our beautiful, darling fourth child. I hope you are well, and will continue to be so! xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! Little ones get so excited! My kids have always told our neighbours before most people as they are busting to tell people :) you look fabulous. We went from 1 to 3 but it's when I really felt like we were a big family. You will love itxxx

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!! I am also 13 weeks along with our third child, so I'll especially enjoy following along your pregnancy journey. Congratulations!
ReplyDeletejust the best news Jodi, so rapt for you all! xx
