33/52

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014."

Poet: she dressed herself (in her printebebe smock top) and then accessorised with a butterfly brooch, the necklace she made with mama and a frou-frou headband that caught the light just so.

I've retreated this week, away from here and the online world in general. I find it's a necessary step to take every now and then, to plant my feet firmly in the real world without explanation or apology. So far, August has been grey and very, very cold so whenever the sun comes out we head to the beach to soak up warmth and Vit D. Whilst Poet looks vibrant and happy in this photo (taken Friday) by Saturday morning she was miserable with conjunctivitis and went to bed last night complaining of a sore ear. Four weeks into pre-school and she's most definitely boosting her immune system. I think I'll keep her home this week; let her little body rest and rejuvenate, feed her noodles in chicken broth and cuddle up with her on the couch.

And one more shot because...gratitude:

  1. looking at those images it almost seems like summer…i'm sure it doesn't seem like that, but over on our end of the world autumn is coming so seeing these bright, sunny, beachy images reinforces the thought that summer is leaving us traveling down south to you...

  2. Ah, the beach. And sunshine. We had loads of sun this summer, but right now it seems like fall isn't creeping up on is, no, it's jumping us, with lots of rain and chilly storms. Brrr. I can't get used to the cold hands again.

    Lovely shots!

  6. I hope she gets better soon - we're having some time cuddling in bed as well - I've one recovering from an operation and one threw up in the night, but at least the baby's healthy - touch wood! Beautiful beach shots - I love the accessories!

  15. Poor little poppet! The exposure to so many other kids sure 'builds immunity' thick and fast, huh! Good idea to take time to rest - both for her and for you! I took a day offline this week and it was sooooo refreshing - and eye opening too, to how often minutes get chewed away in FB and so on! xx
