scenes : in autumn

A floral frenzy! Anyone would think it was spring with all the colour and blooms bursting from gardens in our street.

/ these lilac flowers grow from tall stems and fall almost as soon as they bloom.

/ never underestimate the joy that a 50c pair of giant fairy wings can bring. Found in the op-shop earlier today, they are glittery and fanciful and so very, very pink.

/ the cool green/grey of a succulent against dark tiles.

/ one glance and you can see all her mischievous intentions.

/ fallen camellias in the prettiest shade of baby pink. And a single daisy.

/ it has rained, occasionally, and I've been grateful for this gorgeous raincoat - light-weight and easy enough to carry around in my bag on those just-in-case days. Poet looks so much like her little English twin here.

  1. That succulent is amazing, Jodi. Do you know its name? I've never seen anything like that.

    2. I don't know about the succulent (I thought crassula, but looked up the pictures and couldn't find a match!!), but the beautiful purple blooms are from a Tree Dahlia. I blogged about them a couple of years ago here: http://stonefruitseason.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/the-garden-of-33rd-house-tree-dahlias.html At that stage they were one of many plants on a list to put in the garden of the house we were building. I'm delighted to say we have one in bloom right now.

  2. Beautiful photos! I love the one with the typical Autumn leaf that Poet is holding up :) Everly loves to collect those on our walks. I've been meaning to ask you Jodi - where did you buy the yellow wellies that Poet is wearing? I need to buy Everly some new gumboots and I'm underwhelmed by everything in the stores - I just want something simple.

    1. They are Bergstein boots from Fawn & Fox (a current sponsor over on the sidebar - fawn on green trees). They last and last and last (and I always buy a size up so they fit for a while). Che wore his navy pair for close to 2 years and they are still in good condition for Poet to grow in to x

  8. I'd like to check out that real life photo blog that you were participating in with other mothers... I can't remember what it is called, and I don't see a link here... What was it called again?
