20/52

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014."

Poet: she splashed in the rock pools for ages; till her lips were blue and her skin all wrinkly.

In two weeks time it will be winter and yet it's still warm enough for ocean swims, open shoes and short sleeves. Everyone is delighted about the sun and blue sky - such perfect autumn weather! But it's not right; it should be cold and I'm genuinely wondering if we'll get a "winter" at all.

.........................................................................................................

How gorgeous is this little guy in his braces and bow tie?! / adore this birthday morning capture - so much wonder / these homely shots of Ellery and Aubrey make me smile / I always seem to swoon over Ali's shots; this week she takes it to a whole new level / Vincente and Alice - looking in the same direction.

  2. The seasons seem so strange at times don't they. Autumn here is the most beautiful season - that was one of our driving motivators for moving here was the *true* sense of seasons. The hawthorns have been so prolific this year and an English friend told us that back in England it's said, when the haws are abundant it's the sign of a harsh Winter ahead. So maybe we'll all get a good dose of Winter this year! If you have a persimmon seed you can crack it open - we read a story recently about the shape you see inside your persimmon seed telling of the Winter ahead. Don't know if there is any truth to it, but it was a good story! :)

  3. Next week I shall dip my toes in the ocean and hope it is still warm enough to go all the way in.

  7. love the tones in this! and yes, there's certainly something strange going on with the seasons. last year i was up in the north of Sulawesi, Indonesia where the rainy season was doing strange things, and i remember the elders talking about how the hills were sick.

  9. It has even been warm down here in Tassie for several days in a row. I keep waiting for the bubble to burst and for the blizzard to blow in.

    1. It did a bit for us today - I'm on the NW coast, where are you Kirsty? We had rain and mist after an unseasonably warm Saturday yesterday.

  10. We've had a relatively mild autumn here in Tasmania too - I'm sure we'll get our fair share of winter though soon enough!
