together again
It's quite strange how quickly life returns to normal. After our soppy airport reunion we ventured home to be together, because it's what we missed most. The following day Daniel and I were sitting opposite each other at the table and I burst into tears; I was just so appreciative of his presence, the fact that he was here, under the same roof - it was enough.
We only spoke once a week while he was away so I'm relishing the opportunity to converse. Slowly, slowly the stories of his adventure are being shared, the things he purposefully kept from me (filming on rooftops of moving vehicles in third world countries) and the experiences that were too precious to share over the phone. I've seen some of the footage and it filled me with pride and wonder and joy; moving images of colour and culture.
I made sure I didn't have an expectations about what this time would be like for us; I didn't want to dream up the ideal. We're just taking it day by day, finding a new rhythm, talking and listening and being. It felt like he was gone for ages but then again, it feels like it was only a week or so. That was that and now is now. And so it goes.
