12/52

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Che: Crab hunting, cave exploring and ocean swimming - the best kind of day at the beach.
Poet: Looking very Miss Muppet and trying her best to turn the hose on.

As I journey from one 52 post to the next it's so lovely to see that you're all listing your favourites. This week I sighed at a joyous family and their delightful rain dance / a tiny girl running on a white, expansive beach / beautiful little lamb, a book and her dog / two girls and their art making process, such an original concept for every week of the year / and little Stanley in his denim dungarees, so sweet.

Last week Fritha asked whether I would consider starting a pinterest board for all your portraits. Whilst I think it's a lovely idea I actually haven't ventured into pinterest-land - it's just something else to spend time on and i'm all for keeping it simple. However, halfway during the year I'm going to add another post to the project and I'll encourage you to do the same - posting three of your favourite portraits (of each subject) from the year so far. We'll do the same towards the end of the year - a mini collection that tells the story of the child/partner/subject. What do you think?

  2. ohhhhh so so love. sitting here grabbing a few moments before a busy day. chamomile tea in hand. boys dancing through the house. dogs sleeping. morining spring sun shining through my windows. so love to see the portraits file in. i love watching this community grow. watching the children sleep, laugh, pout & BE. it is a such a joy to watch all the mamas capture their children on film, capture small moments of joy. it is a beloved community weaving in and out throughout this world. when so much grief and doubt and fear is shouted from news headlines, i love to watch this JOY be the TRUMPET of LOVE & of the promise of hope for the future, and hope for our weary world. thanks so for the inspiration. xxoo

  3. PS. Love the idea (& all ideas!) to further this venture. I was thinking of how to make this a more permanent installation in my house. I think I will do a simple scrapbook of the year. don't get the chance to sew up the scraps their life often enough. xxoo

  11. heyo! again, you frolic in sunshine while we are in a blizzard! i don't think it'd be possible to set up a board with so many different pinners BUT you could decide on a tag that everyone who wants to pin their portraits could use eg #project52cheandfidel then they'd be easy to find? x

  16. I get lost in the 52 project each week. I love what you have started, a growing community all connect by your 52 project. I have never even looked at pininterest, way too much social media out there. But I love the idea of a half-way and end of year collection.

I may have missed it, but was wondering if you had last year's 52 images printed into book form yet? I'd love to see how it turned out. I'm excited to get ours printed at the end of this year.
