reminisce

On Thursday she turns one; an entire journey around the sun. I can see that time in the length of her limbs and hear it in the words that she speaks. But because I am her mother I will always wonder why it was so fleeting.

The light is the same as it was last year but now I carry her on my hip as I reminisce about my belly.  I'm so thankful for the friend who visited that morning and captured us as we wandered in and out of days; patiently waiting for Poet to come.

  9. Happy birthday to her. It is just breath taking how fast that year moves and how much they change. It's something you can't really understand until you are a parent. Lovely picture as well.

  12. Happy first birthday!

I really think the first birthday is such a special occasion for mother's too.
The week or so before Baby C turned one I found myself reminiscing about that same time a year ago...hugely pregnant, feeling so ready to give birth and so eager to meet my baby. At that time I had no idea what was about to begin and what being a mother would mean to me.

  18. After having followed your blog for a couple of years this is actually my first comment. Having given birth to my baby boy on 8th July last year, I really felt like I was on that journey with you. How can a whole year have passed so fleetingly? I take a lot from your blog but the emphasis on calm and simplicity are things I really try to live by. You string words together so beautifully, a pleasure to read x

  19. That's amazing.

That means I have been drawn to blog for just coming up to a year now.

The way you thread those words together ... leaves me smiling.

And these words, will be a most beautiful gift to pass on to your children one day :)
