7/52
"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."
Che: aka Astro Boy - I don't think he has ever loved "downtime" quite as much as he has this week. It's been absolutely essential.
Poet: I know she looks like me but goodness, I can definitely see it in her serious gaze.
This week my favourite portraits featured boys and brothers! I think this is Ronnie's best capture this year, her three boys waving at their Nan / little River is bathed in light (and I can't resist a good pair of overalls/dungarees) / Zila's boys are handsome and hilarious / Arlo and Munroe always make my heart sing...and I especially love the outtakes / "Mister G sat on the wall" - swoon!
Whilst it's not a conventional portrait as such, Sarah Humphreys has just released "Boy Wonder" - it's delightful and features my very own gorgeous boy.
Can't wait to see your captures for this week....

Love that the Astro Boy isn't translated, it's great to see it in it's original form.
ReplyDeleteDaniel reads it to Che and makes up the story as he goes...it's hilarious! x
DeleteThat's beautiful, I love that you guys foster the imagination so strongly in your parenting.
DeleteI can't believe it's week 7! Gosh time is flying xx
ReplyDeletePoet is so beautiful! That light! x
ReplyDeleteFeet up, reading a comic. Love it! x
ReplyDeleteShe looks so much like you, and 'looks' so much like you as well! haha I'm so glad to see that Che likes comic books and downtime in general, he looks so much like an Astro Boy type character that he absolutely must be a Miyazaki boy!
ReplyDeleteMiyazaki boy through and through x
DeleteAstro boy! Che has great taste :) love the photos as usual x
ReplyDeletelove how che has his feet up, just so cute!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always. x
ReplyDeleteChe sounds like a mature little boy to take time out to read, such a wonderful sight I bet for you to see him enjoying reading. And those lips of Poet's in her serious look, just beautiful.xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for mentioning Elizabeth last week, 5/52 is one of my favourite pictures of her. I might never have taken it if I wasn't joining in on this project, so thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, those little toes on Che! He seems so grown up!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say I see a lot of you in Poet! She's definitely her mother's daughter ; )
ReplyDeleteAstro boy is wonderful! And I love the reflective photograph of Poet.
ReplyDeleteThat first photo makes me smile big time! I have a stash of Japanese manga from my childhood as well. Brings back such memories.
ReplyDeletePoet is so very beautiful, no matter what her expression.
Ronnie xo
p.s Thx for the mention, Jodi!
Ah, quiet home time. It's something we all love. So lovely that he perches somewhere with a favourite read. And your baby girl just a wee little you. Beautiful captures! Hope your week is a lovely one :) x
ReplyDeleteBoys. I just LOVE the theme! And all the photos linked were fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Boy Wonder clip but couldn't help feeling it needed more boy craziness - climbing and dirt.
Here are my boys from this week - they are non-stop, crazy little bundles of energy. http://wp.me/s2olKc-752
my, little Poet is not looking so little anymore - it really shows this week! Both of them still beautiful as always x
ReplyDeleteMy fave of Poet so far...so pensive, you can't help but wonder whats on her mind.
ReplyDeleteLove both these photos. But the view from above is very clever and perfect. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love that photo of Che...there really is something about children's feet...they seem so much more important when you are children...when you are an adult they are just something that goes in shoes!
Where is that cute kids oven from?
ReplyDeleteIt's a Moulin Roty oven purchased from here - http://www.sendatoy.com.au/store/pc/Moulin-Roty-Wooden-Oven-6p727.htm - we've had it for years. I highly recommend! x
DeleteNothing finer than little people reading something they love. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat does Che have his feet up on? It looks like an old radio.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures and beautiful children. I can imagine your 52 project photo book at the end of the year Jodi. Stunning.
You should print one out for every year.

Oh I see it now, it's a children's stove and oven, isn't it? Adorable!
DeleteYep, a little toy oven x
DeleteLove the Boy round up. Love my Boy (and my Girl too)
ReplyDeleteI think I might have to do a girl round-up next week x
DeleteBeautiful captures. It is wonderful to see that Che is developing a love of reading at such a young age. Have a happy week. Melinda x
ReplyDeleteLovely, and thanks for featuring Ronnie's image. She's such an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAs a total random aside, my girl (who was born in Japan) when through a phase at about 1 year where she looked exactly like astro boy. And i thought that was the greatest!!
Gorgeous photos as always Jodi. We love Sarah's music too, that video is lovely. Have a great week x
ReplyDeleteI love Che's toes gently resting on the toy oven. I feel relaxed after looking at that shot...
ReplyDeletelove her beads necklace! I really like to wear jewelry that a child can use :) so cute!
ReplyDeletei love these. :) i'm enjoying seeing my son like this as well, at rest and reading. it's a good age. and i love your little girl's necklace--those beads!
ReplyDeleteI like the way your portraits aren't always conventional ones Jodi, like the shot of Che engrossed in his Astro Boy comic. I'm going to try and take this approach on board over the coming weeks occasionally. Poet is such a sweetie, she always looks so pensive and calm. Saw Sarah's new clip and notice your darling boy in it!! :)
ReplyDeleteMuch approval at the comic book reading! Love that stillness and the calm that comes from reading.
ReplyDeleteI was such a huge astro-boy fan growing up...good to see kids of today still love it. That serious gaze is adorable! happy weekend Jodi x
ReplyDeletei'm loving the second photo!

ReplyDeleteThank you Jodi!
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased you liked our last picture -- I'm really loving being a part of this project, both in taking my own pictures and also in seeing your (beautiful) ones and all the other great shots. Thank you! :)
And G really does look like Humpty Dumpty sitting on that wall.
The shot of Che reading is particularly fab, Jodi. x
ReplyDeletePoet does look so much like you, it's uncanny. I lovely this project Jodi, it must be so lovely to look back on all the photos at the end of the year - already in week 7 I can see the changes. x
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link Jodi! Like everyone else I'm so glad I have been taking part in this project.

Have a beautiful new week.
Else {from France}
I have just joined the series :) Seven weeks late, but better late than never, right?
ReplyDeleteThis was a great idea, and I like the sense of community it creates between mommas.
I really enjoy looking through all the pictures. Your children are beautiful!!
I love your photos, but that's not new. What is new is the little tidbits of other beautiful mama's lives that the link up brings me to each week. I was just visited by Lisa from Big Little who was visiting each of her 'neighbours' on the link up, which I love!
ReplyDeleteTime for me to go meet my 7/52 neighbours. :-)
x Cassie
i adore the shot of your boy reading, there is something aboput the balck and white pages against his little legs that makes me quite teary x
ReplyDeletemy Archie would love an Astro-Boy comic book like that (scurries off to Amazon to find one). lovely shots, as ever. Hope little man is settling into school OK x
ReplyDeleteah such deep thoughts your Poet seems to be in. also i love her necklace.
ReplyDeleteinto grade 2 already and down time is still absolutely key to a peaceful afternoon.

We call our boy Astro, too! So funny. I love your shots that are not straight forward "portraits" and are a little more creative. I haven't gotten outside the box yet on that.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi! It was such great surprise to see your comment on my blog, and that you liked the photo! Thanks so much! I love this project, and I am enjoying it so much.
ReplyDeleteYour kids are very cute, and your images are always a bliss. The comic book pic from above is pretty cool. Poet's dress and necklace are just so darling.
