"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."
Che: He flies the nest tomorrow; his first day of school...(wings by wittlebird)
Poet: Cheekiest little girl I know
Did you know that Ash is only ever photographing her daughters in the early morning? It makes for such a fresh perspective / Holly's little Queenie Valentine looks darling in her vintage gown; an old-worldly capture / Sweet little Sage turned one - peepo beautiful girl! / I love the sincerity of Little Smith (must be the knowing of a big brother) / Each week Catherine takes a portrait of her two beautiful girls - I love the light and long limbs in these shots.
So....we're five weeks in - what have you loved about the project so far?

I love your photography. You're children are so beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteoh wow Jodi, how amazing are Che's wings?? Good luck for his first day! x
ReplyDeletePerfect portrait of your two littles. ADORE Che's wings. Remember fledglings may leave the nest, but are still so dependent on their mum & dad. lovely.xxoo
ReplyDeleteThat school transition is such a complex dance of emotions. Wishing you well.
ReplyDeleteAlso, very much enjoying the weekly challenge. It truly is forcing me into looking through that lens a bit differently. Thank you.
These pictures are gorgeous, love all the bright colors! Good luck to Che on his first day of school!
ReplyDeleteThose wings, and those curls!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your sweet school-bound boy.
Those two portraits are absolutely gorgeous. I originally planned to use this just to force me to capture ordinary moments that I rarely do...but have since decided to try to learn a bit about photography...still have to sit down and read up on the basics though
ReplyDeleteHI Jodi - your little fledgling is ready! I love his wings.
ReplyDeleteI'm finding it impossible to capture three children each week, so am aiming to get one here each week ;0)
Sending you all good wishes for your transition tomorrow and the days ahead,
Emma x
oh my heart! poet!
ReplyDeletelove those wings! beautiful as always!
ReplyDeleteLove your posts so sincwre full of love and kifes colours xxxx
ReplyDeleteIts meant to say so sincere full of love and lifes colours. Police
DeletePoet... Oh, I've had baby fever extra hard this week and your photos have been making me gush. Really, as I've been on the sidelines sick, your blog has been a highlight when I take a break from endless napping.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are officially over the nastiest sinus infections and other afflictions and so we can return to participating. I'll be posting our week 4 photos a full week late. Looking forward to being back in all this. It's something I really look forward to. I've been keeping all the Polaroids together to put in an old-fashioned album with the little black photo corners to paste them in.
My best,
Jo Farmer
Love doing this project, especially looking at other people's photos. My older daughter is fascinated by the whole "putting things on the computer" thing and loves seeing pictures of her and her sister.
ReplyDeleteAww, how exciting that he's starting school tomorrow! It'll be a weird day, or so it was for us every time again. Mixed emotions and such. Wish you lots of joy tomorrow! (And your little ones look adorable, as always :-))
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomorrow Che! I still remember my first day at school, 25 years ago! x
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness- Che's wings! Good luck to mama and to Che tomorrow. Big day!
ReplyDeleteTaking a pic of my little girl each week is a lovely and satisfying thing to do . If things have gone awry during the week and it feels like nothing has been accomplished - the simple act of posting of a photo of my girl helps me remember a special time with her. Now that IS something accomplished!
ReplyDeleteLoving looking at everyone else's photos so much too. Each week I am dropping in to say to the people on either side of my picture on the link list. A little bit of blog community love. Lisa x
Lovely :))Good luck for 1st day!
ReplyDeleteI love Sunday mornings
ReplyDeleteGosh, your littles are groing up mighty fast!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the project, Jodi. Xx
ReplyDeleteWow, Poet - such a little girl now. She's looks so grown up suddenly. The very best of luck for you all on Monday Jodi. xx
ReplyDeleteChe looking very reflecting (and ready to fly off into the world) - oh he will love school....all the best with the first day nerves. Poet is just adorabale x
ReplyDeleteThose wings are amazing...best of luck to all of you tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAnd Poet's cheekiness may only be matched by that of my little boy!
Thank you again for hosting...I love looking through the photos I have taken over the week and choosing one to share and I love visiting other blogs, checking in and seeing how their week has gone.
You always capture the most sweetest, organic shots of your kids. Love your photos again this week Jodi.
ReplyDeleteGood luck this week to you and Che. My Ella started school last week. A big week for us both!

Joining for the first time Jodi with my monthly portraits instead of weekly :-) I think it will be a lot of fun! Best of luck the week! I'm sure you and Che will take to it like a duck to water :-) Mel xxx
ReplyDeletehow exciting to be off to school tomorrow. i'm enjoying the project a lot (and feeling rather envious of the abundance of natural light that's in evidence in your, and other southern hemisphere contributors', photos!). x
ReplyDeleteWow, it's really happening! Thinking of you tomorrow, Jodi.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Ronnie xo
I love those colourful wings :) All the best little Che - enjoy the adventures of big school!
ReplyDeleteSophie xo
I love the 52 community and the supportive feedback. I love that I have contributed each week. I love visiting other weeks in pictures.
ReplyDeleteThis is just how I feel too. Have found some lovely blogs through this project. Jodi, good luck tomorrow, hope it all goes well for all of you xx
DeleteOh my goodness your children are so beautiful! I love the shot of Che in the butterfly(?) costume...so sweet. I'm so glad to be a part of this project!
ReplyDeleteWIshing you a gentle and happy start to your little man's newest adventure. And gotta love a little lady with a bit of spunk :) x
ReplyDeleteThinking of both of you on Che's first day at school, may it be the start of a wonderful adventure for you both. I can see that glint in Poet's eye, the second one seems to be more spirited in my house too:) Thank you so much for your beautiful words about my photos last week Jodi. I'm really enjoying taking photos of my girls, seeing the light more and loving visiting new blogs too. Many thanks again for hosting. x
ReplyDeleteThose wings are perfection... another gorgeous week, beautiful you! Hoping you enjoy your transition into this new "school era" - it's going to be such a fun ride, I'm sure! :) xx
ReplyDeleteThat first day of school, when your little one lets go of your hand and waves you goodbye, makes you realise just how quickly the years pass by. Have a wonderful time at school Che. xx
ReplyDeleteAll the best with school tomorrow....I am sure he is well equipped with wings like that to fly through the adventure. xx
ReplyDeleteI am loving the sense of community this project is bringing. I get lost in the link ups! Visiting and reading all the other bloggers out there joining in.

I wish I had known of this project when my boys were little. Although I suppose they are never too old to capture their changes. I am loving this project and seeing how creative everyone is. I also have been excited to get to know some of your other readers and their blogs. This is a very inspiring place ~
ReplyDeletexo Sarah
This project is the art of noticing. I'm able to focus on how juicy the simplest things are and reflecting on why they are so meaningful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your first day!
While I have always taken photos of my boy, this project is making look at things differently. Trying to capture different expressions. And trying to be aware of light and background! Also, I think it is making us get out more. Or do different things. again something we always strive to do, but now that I am trying to capture something "different" each week, it prompts us more!
ReplyDeletei love Che's wings. all the best tomorrow. the one thing i have loved so much about this project is meeting all new bloggers i would otherwise not have a chance to meet. thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love the way this is challenging me to take more photos of my camera-phobic eldest child - definitely forcing me to get a bit creative. Those wings on Che are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying it: the documenting, capturing fleeting moments, experimenting with different angles and bettering my photography skills. Such a lovely project. What's interesting is that so far some weeks it's a mad scramble on a Saturday to capture them and other weeks I realise I have so many to choose from. x
ReplyDeleteJodi , I love your photographs of your kids so much. They show so much love!
ReplyDeleteI am loving this project and the way it makes me reflect and sort through the 'week that was' - especially w a newborn in the house - getting to document him from the very beginning and also how he is settling into our family. After doing Project 366 last year, 52 feels so much lighter! Really enjoying the freedom and flexibility whilst also tracking them week by week :)
ReplyDeletethis project has been so much fun! I thought it would be nice to participate in a blogging community type project but just in these five weeks I have learned so much about photography, seeing my baby and other people differently when taking pictures of them and just how much fun it can be to capture moments on film. Thank you for this! And seeing all of the other lovely photos on other blogs and learning from them as well. Happy first day of school to your boy and good luck to you Mama!
ReplyDelete1. I love what it is teaching me about our camera. I used to be so frustrated when hubby left the camera on manual but not I'm not switching it to auto.
ReplyDelete2. I love the insights into peoples lives. The way they look at the people they love.
3. I love that I have something new to look forward to every week.
O I love those wings! I foresee them in my little one's next birthday haul! That lovely green and gentle light in the photo of Che is so beautiful and calming.
ReplyDeleteThose wings are so beautiful. Hope his first day goes swimmingly. xx
ReplyDeleteAll the very best to Che for first day ! and Poet's beautiful smile can make anybody's day !!
ReplyDeleteThe photos and contrast are just superb !
Project 52 is bringing beautiful tiny little faces together, while they grow up messing around us, filling our heart with love and happiness ! Its so nice to know all other beautiful woman out there doing the same thing for our darlings which I am doing, I dont know if ever in life I will meet them, and sharing our ideas, passion, exhaustion and stress, all at once on this page! its just lovely.
Loving: trying to find new ways to photograph the kids & finding new lovely blogs.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for tomorrow. The first day is hard but then you find a whole new fascinating stage of childhood x
Love poet and those cheey eyes :) Never fails to put a smile on my face. Is it just me, or is she getting cheekier by the day?
ReplyDeletelove. those wings are amazing! xx
ReplyDeleteI just love seeing everyone's perspective on their children the very most. x
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures and great idea for a weekly portrait - I am going to join in albeit a little late
ReplyDeleteI love the different angles, & mixture of different people from different parts of the globe.
ReplyDeletePrue x
Your portraits are beautiful. I'm joining in this week for the first time, thank-you for having me. Happy days to you. Melinda x
ReplyDeleteI love the project! thank you Jodi.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you all tomorrow, I hope Che has a wonderful day.
xo
Beautiful as always. Hope school goes well tomorrow x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - looks like you've had a week of feathers. Hope the first day goes well x
ReplyDeleteloving this week's portrait of Poet and also loving playing along:)
ReplyDeleteThose wings and that crown are magical!!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Jodi.
x
Thank you for the mention today lovely. Sage had very special first birthday celebrations, surrounded by an overwhelming amount of love! Che will simply flourish tomorrow I'm sure. A huge step for a Mumma to release her fledglings into the big wide world, you will be in my thoughts x
ReplyDeleteWishing your boy a wonderful week discovering the magic of school. mel x
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying this project. Good luck for Che's first day at school. My daughter started school last September. She was very ready - I on the other hand was not, lots of complicated emotions! But she really does seem to relish school and I hope Che does too.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying trying to tell more of a story with just one image. I normally rely on many to try and say the narrative taking place, but it is so nice to limit to just one image to say so much with that instant capture. Loving this project, and thank you so much for picking out Stanley last week. I think it might just have made up for the tears in the snow!
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the happiest first day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love sitting down with my husband with a cup of tea each Sunday during naptime and going through the week's pictures to try and pick one that captures a moment or aspect of G. It's sort of a quiet exercise in seeing the week (and laughing.)
I'm really enjoying seeing how others capture their moments too.
xx
fab photos as ever!
ReplyDeletehere's mine this week: http://thislittlemum.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/552.html
Such beautiful light Jodi. And how much is Poet growing up! My goodness. Good luck for tomorrow x
ReplyDeletelove the light in the first portrait, it feels like i'm in a magic story with che. poet is so cute.
ReplyDeletei just joined this project but can't post weekly so I will link on the last link of the month and the beginning of the first link.
i'm just loving everything and getting inspired to take better pictures :)
Hehehe at Poet sticking her tongue out! So cute!

Monday today - Che's first day? Peace to you Mummy. Brave-heart and excitement for him.
ReplyDeletex
The wings, the wings! I hope that school is his best adventure yet.
ReplyDeleteSunlight in curls - just beautiful light. xx
ReplyDeleteJodi, you will probably shed some tears, and feel the pull of thread from your tummy tighten. But Che will love it... I am sure. Squeezing your hand, it's going to be ok xxx
ReplyDeleteJust goegeous Photos Jodi. Good Luck for the first day of school.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for your little man tomorrow (guess it's today now) and for you. Sending happy thoughts across the globe x
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for Che's first day at school!
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've loved that this project is much more manageable than the Photo-a-Day Project I completed with Georgia last year. I can pick my camera up when I feel inspired, rather than trying to find a moment every single day!
The light in Australia is absolutely gorgeous, and of course you have two very wonderful subjects! Good luck for the new school year!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful wings he has! :)
ReplyDelete...all the better to soar with x
DeleteThose wings are just the best, he's all ready for this big new adventure! Thanks so much for your sweet words about my boy too, I am having such fun participating in the project and following along with you and so many others.
ReplyDeletexox Lilly
Wow, that photo of Che is breathtaking. Even more so when you read the meaning behind it.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the moment when I upload my photos for the week, have a little moment of doubt ("What if I didn't capture anything that says something about my children?", then I have a little look and realise that there is something in the batch I can use :)
Such precious photos - the innocence of childhood.
ReplyDeleteHope Che's first day went well!
x
Those wings are beautiful. Glad school went well x
ReplyDeletesince this week i start taking pictures also of my growing belly (i'm pregnant with #2). So thank you, because with this project i can have memories not only of my beautiful girl, which is growing so fast, but i can document the waiting and the birth of my second!
ReplyDeletei'm looking forward to read about school routine and co.!
yes, I was planning on writing a bit about our new routine...when it's established! x
DeleteWhat glorious wings! Beautiful photos as ever. xo
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your wonderful blog, your pictures are so inspiring and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to join you and so many other people to the "52, a portrait, a week"… :-)

Those wings and Poets headpiece .... I want them both !!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wings and a gorgeous shot of Poet. I am loving the community aspect of this project Jodi, so many lovely new blogs to discover x
ReplyDeleteI am loving the sense of community like Amanda. It's also made me realise how much our family actually does in a week (so much!)because I'm a bit more mindful of potential photo ops ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi! Just joined the project and am really excited! :) Thank you so much for the inspiration, and for this wonderful blog and the images you share :)

the wings picture takes my breath away! xxxx
ReplyDeletewow 346. Jodi i have been wanting to jump on board here for a long while and while many factors led to delay, we have finally arrived.
ReplyDeleteyou made it! So happy x
DeleteJodi can i just say what an inspiration this project is and also your blog and pictures. I have joined late to the party, this my first week, but i have been loving watching everybody else's work and have spent a lovely hour this morning just following links! It's wonderful! and you have finally given me enough courage to turn my camera (brought last feb) off auto for the first time ever! Yes its on the M BUTTON!!! EEEEEKKKKKK! and i feel so excited about that, you have truly inspired me, thank you, (although if i ever take a picture as great as your wings picture above, i may need wings myself as i think i will jump off the roof!')
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, the pics are gorgeous and the wings... wow! Having a blast with this project: your talent is such an inspiration and the pics shared by the other participants are to die for. Excellent, excellent! Thanks
